The Saône which runs through Burgundy to Lyon is one of France’s great rivers. When you think of Burgundy you think of wine, Baune, Macon, Rully and Montrachet. All these and many more are accessible for the river or the canal du Centre. The lower Saône meanders gently through pastures and is joined by the Seille. The Seille provides the possibility to cruise to Louhans one of Frances most beautiful towns and famous for the Bresse chickens. Higher up there is the ‘petite Saône’ where the smaller river has fewer locks and ample opportunity to swim. The Saône provides diverse opportunities, rivers and canals, cities and villages but always accompanied by fine wines and gastronomic cuisine.
