Alsace / Ardennes

In Lorraine the Moselle department of France is an amazing mix of French and German culture. The villages and the food give testament to this fascinating mix. The villages are very pretty with half-timbered houses, colourful window boxes and distinctive churches. In this region is the famous boat lift at Arzvillier which rivals any fare ground ride! Along with smaller villages are the fine cities of Strasbourg and Nancy with its UNESCO listed Stanislas square.
The Ardennes is still one of Europe’s biggest forests and the woods team with wildlife, deer, boar and birds abound. The river Meuse winds its way through this beautiful scenery and there are the delightful towns of Fumay and Givet are not to be missed.
